Yala, the Trade Desk for manufacturers expanding across Africa, is partnering with africon to help manufacturers enter African markets, identify local distributors and build the business relationships needed to grow. The partnership will initially focus on Nigeria, with plans to extend into other African markets over time.

The partnership brings together africon’s market research, local networks and on-the-ground business development with Yala’s distributor network and trade infrastructure. Together, the companies will support manufacturers from understanding a market and identifying potential partners to building distribution and managing trade as business develops.

From Market Research to Building Distribution

Entering a new market takes more than identifying demand for a product. Manufacturers also need to find distributors who understand the local market, can reach customers and have the capacity to build sales.

This is where the partnership comes in.

africon works with companies on market research, market-entry strategy, partner identification and local business development. Its work helps manufacturers understand the opportunities in a market and connect with potential distributors and other commercial partners.

Yala supports manufacturers as they build and manage those trade relationships. Through its distributor network and trade infrastructure, Yala helps manufacturers find and manage distributors, receive orders and collect local payments. Financing and cross-border payment support are also available for eligible trade transactions.

By bringing these capabilities together, africon and Yala aim to help manufacturers move from researching a market to building distribution with local partners.

Starting with Nigeria

Nigeria will be the initial focus of the partnership.

Manufacturers looking to enter the Nigerian market can work with africon to understand the market, identify potential distributors and develop local business relationships. Yala can then support the manufacturer and its distributors as they begin trading, helping them manage orders, distributor relationships and local payments.

Where distributors need to pay suppliers outside their home market, Yala can also support the supplier payment required to complete the transaction.

This approach connects market-entry research with the practical requirements of doing business. Finding a distributor is an important first step, but manufacturers also need a way to manage orders, receive payments and continue trading with their partners.

The partnership is intended to support both sides of that process.

Supporting Manufacturers as They Expand

For manufacturers entering a new market, finding the right local partners and establishing a way to trade with them are closely connected. Market research helps identify opportunities, while local business development helps establish relationships. Trade infrastructure supports the commercial activity that follows.

Through this partnership, africon and Yala are bringing these areas of support together, starting with Nigeria and with the potential to extend into other African markets as the partnership develops.
